| Richard Hollinger, Head of Special Collections on behalf of Folger Library accepted the working papers for Maria Holt’s & Elizabeth King’s book The Death of Maine Yankee: Antinuclear Activists’ Adventures 1969-1996 published by Just Write Books of Topsham. The writing, graphs, letters and even a Geiger counter used by the Midcoast Monitoring Group will be added to Folger Library’s Special Collections at the University of Maine in Orono, Maine. Holt & King’s book The Death of Maine Yankee tells the story of the people who protested, monitored the plant and then fought to close Maine Yankee Nuclear Power plant. With science, charts and background for this book provides the reader with valuable insight into the actions of antinuclear activists.

Folger Library’s Special Collections Department was established in 1970 as a repository for Maine-related material. Virtually all available printed bibliographical, historical, and descriptive works on the state as well as literary titles by Maine authors are housed in this department. Books, pamphlets, state documents, and other forms of printed material provide extensive coverage of Maine’s cities, towns, counties, people, and institutions.
