Richard Hollinger, Head of Special Collections on behalf of Folger Library accepted the working papers for Maria Holt’s & Elizabeth King’s book The Death of Maine Yankee: Antinuclear Activists’ Adventures 1969-1996 published by Just Write Books of Topsham. The writing, graphs, letters and even a Geiger counter used by the Midcoast Monitoring Group will be added to Folger Library’s Special Collections at the University of Maine in Orono, Maine. According to Hollinger who met with Maria Holt this summer,“These source documents will be important to anyone who will be researching nuclear power production in the U.S.” |
Maria Holt shared her appreciation of Folger Library’s accepting of the book’s source documents, “I’m gratified that Folger Library at the University of Maine finds this material worthy of its collection. I’m particularly happy that U. of Maine is collecting the papers since I attended there as a pre-med student many years ago.
