Grandkids as Gurus- Lessons for Grownups
When her first grandkids were born, Susan Lebel Young dreamed about what an awesome grandparent she would be. As a retired psychotherapist, a mindfulness coach and yoga teacher, she knew she was prepared for this role. She would teach them how to be kind, considerate, and patient. Her plan didn’t work. Instead, Young found that the grandkids taught her.
Young is the author of Lessons from a Golfer and Food Fix: Ancient Nourishment for Modern Hungers. Her column, “Life Unwound,” is published in The Forecaster, a free weekly publication
in Maine. Young, now retired, counseled individuals, couples, and groups for over three decades. Mother of two grown children and four grandchildren, Young lives in Falmouth, Maine, with her husband.
