About the Author
Bruce Gagnon (born 1952) is Chair, Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space. He was an early member of the Anti-Defense Lobby in the 1970's regarding the U.S. space program. Gagnon has worked on space issues for more than 20 years, first as state coordinator of the Florida Coalition for Peace and Justice. Valuable resources on the moon and planets form the next battleground for corporate profit, he says, and “defense” programs such as “Star Wars” actually are conceived as offense. “The U.S. intends to control…and dominate space and deny other countries access,” says Gagnon, adding that the means for seizing such control are nuclear, threaten everyone on Earth, and divert funding from the common good.
Reviews
"Bruce Gagnon gives the Pentagon Papers credit for helping to inspire him to make the switch from the Air Force to full-time peace and environmental activism. That's a happy thought for me; I'd like nothing better than to feel that my release of the Pentagon Papers played a role in Bruce's emergence as the national, indeed global, asset that he has been for decades. I hope this book will be read widely. It has the power to inspire the many others the world needs to follow his example."
—Daniel Ellsberg Secrets: A Memoir of Vietnam and the Pentagon Papers
"Bruce Gagnon's passion and love for the moon, sun, stars and planets motivates him to share these stories to keep outer space for peaceful purposes. He records the movement in full swing. Let us breathe with him in his vision and mission."
—Sr. Ardeth Platte, Dominican Sisters, from inside the Danbury Federal Correctional Institution for an act of disarmament
"This collection of writings from Bruce Gagnon comes from one of the more noble people on the planet today. Few people devote their life to saving the Earth. Bruce, who grew up a Republican and joined the U.S. Air Force had a conversion on his "Road to Damascus." He has taught, alerted and led hundreds of thousands of people nationally and internationally to oppose the U.S. plans to weaponize and dominate space. I am one of those people."
