In the summer of 1999, Susan Lebel Young's father had a cardiac scare, resulting in seven-way by-pass surgery. In response to his illness Susan journaled, corresponded with friends and wrote poetry. Here she puts this experience into a story for each of us—weaving the lessons of golf through the lessons of life. Susan's father, Ray Lebel, played jazz horn, completed a career as an oral surgeon and is a golf champion—winner of Maine State Amateur six times, holding the national record for the most club wins, and listed in Sports Illustrated as one of Maine's top athletes. His life lessons came to him through golf and he imparted those lessons to his children. Here his eldest shares them with you.

Reviews
"Duke Ellington said, 'It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing.' If this is true, then Ray Lebel means a lot. On the first tee or with a cornet in his hand, he can swing! Ray is a true Renaissance man. Getting to know Ray Lebel in life and through this book redefined for me what a human is capable of."

What our Customers say

Nancy E. Randolph, JWB owner, markets my titles on a wide scale. She also sets up book signings. I find it infinitely more enjoyable and rewarding to work with this Maine-based publisher than to deal with national publishers from out-of-state.
Finally, JWB does not publish just any aspiring author. Randolph is very selective, accepting only material that she is convinced will sell. I highly recommend JWB to any author.
Tom Seymour, author of Wild Plants of Maine and many other titles.
